| The establishment of Pravara Rural Polytechnic on 21st August 1981,
symbolizes the ascendance of plateau of achievement
of academic excellence, in
dissemination of quality education from preprimary to collegiate level by Pravara
Rural Education Society, ensconced at Loni, by Late Padmashri Dr. Vithalrao
Vikhe Patil in 1964. A humble farmer by birth, poorly educated by modern
standard but intuitively perspicacious, Late Padmashri Dr. Vikhe Patil was an
institution by himself and a veritable precursor of economic and educational
resurgence of this region. A doyen of Co-operative Movement, he laid the keel
for the Education Society with twin objectives of providing a superb educational
system comparable to the best in any urban center and give a fillip to the
emancipation of Women through need based education. Deliberately he chose to
have this complex in a remote drought prone village of Loni resisting the
temptation of an urban setting, with its advantages of an untroubled path for
speedy attainment of objectives. Institutions at Loni are better known through
the students and staff, over the length and breadth of India rather than by
gimmicks of advertisements prolific in practice in the present times.
Hon'ble Namdar Shri. Balasaheb Vikhe Patil, Minister of State for Finance, Govt. of India, worthy son of Late Padmashri, a leader of reckoning in Maharashtra and India, took upon himself arduous task of translating the dreams of his father into concrete realities by meticulous, punctilious planning and by offering a dynamic and pragmatic leadership to the Society. The seed laid by the Padmashri blossomed into a sylvan symphony with a large chain educational institutions, which includes Primary, Secondary Schools, Higher Secondary Schools, English Medium High Schools, a Public School, a fully residential Secondary and Higher Secondary School for Girls, Sainik School, Junior Colleges, Polytechnics one specially for girls and Industrial Training Institute - one each exclusively for women, Senior Colleges offering courses in Pharmacy, Education, Physical Education, Arts, Science, Home Science, Commerce, Architecture, Engineering and Technology i.e. Pravara Rural Engineering College, A separate Trust is created for Medical Education consisting of Pravara Rural Medical College, Dental College, physiotherapy, a Nursing College with an attached fully equipped Rural Hospital of 1,000 Beds strength. A Krida Prabhodhini, a Kala Academy for performing arts and promotion of rural culture and a Sports Complex compliment the educational scenario in the
area. All the institutions are duly recognized by statutory bodies of state & central governments. A huge complex of educational institutions has come to be associated with Loni. The student population of Pravara Complex is more than 25000. The Pravara Rural Polytechnic College, Loni is situated in the heart of rural area.
